Record openly. Share with care.

1. Everyone on the call knows it is being recorded.
2. The other person stays out of your clip unless they have agreed, through a playbakk consent link, to be included.
3. You follow the law where you are and where the other people are.
4. You never use playbakk to hurt, deceive or impersonate anyone.

You must not:

• Record anyone covertly, or hide or disguise the fact that you are recording. playbakk is not designed for secret recording and must not be used for it.
• Record a call without the consent that the law requires. In the UK, recording a call you take part in is generally lawful for personal use, but some US states and some countries require every participant’s consent. • Record conversations you are not a participant in, or record where people have a clear expectation of privacy that you do not have their permission to override.
• Use playbakk to capture a call on someone else’s device or account, or to get around a calling app’s own privacy controls.

• By default, playbakk removes the other person’s face, window and speaking turns from your clips. Only include them — “Them” or “Both” — with their explicit consent, given through a consent link you send them.
• Do not pressure, trick or pay anyone into giving consent under false pretences, and do not misdescribe what the clip will show or where it will be published.
• If someone withdraws consent, stop using their part of the clip in anything new. Where you can, remove content already published.
• Recording permission is not publication permission. Check that you have permission to publish what remains in the finished clip, including anything identifiable in the background or in your own speech about someone else.

You must not use playbakk to create, store or share content that:

• Harasses, bullies, threatens, doxxes or intimidates anyone, or reveals someone’s private information without their permission.
• Is a deepfake or manipulated media intended to mislead — for example, editing someone’s words or cuts to make them appear to say or agree to something they did not.
• Impersonates another person or organisation, or implies an endorsement that does not exist.
• Is sexual content involving anyone who has not consented, or any content that sexualises minors. We report child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities.
• Records or includes children without the permission of a parent or guardian.
• Promotes violence, terrorism, hatred or self-harm.
• Infringes copyright, trade marks, confidentiality or other rights, or breaches a non-disclosure agreement or professional duty (for example, recording a client or patient without authorisation).
• Is otherwise unlawful, fraudulent or deceptive.

You must not:

• Probe, scan or test our systems for vulnerabilities except under our security policy, or attempt to access another person’s account or local workspace.
• Share your account, authenticator or recovery codes, or try to bypass multi-factor authentication, rate limits or the consent gate that blocks guest inclusion without a valid receipt.
• Reverse-engineer consent receipts to forge or alter them.
• Overload, disrupt or scrape the service, or use it to send spam, including unsolicited consent requests.
• Resell or provide playbakk to others as a service without our written agreement.

We may remove access to features, suspend or close an account, revoke outstanding consent links, and report unlawful activity to the authorities. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you what we have done and why, and give you a chance to respond. Because your media stays on your device, we cannot see or delete it; enforcement applies to your account and to the server-side features we operate.
