About playbakk
Real conversations make better clips.
playbakk turns genuine video calls — spontaneous or planned, on whatever app you already use — into reel-ready clips of just you.
It began with a simple observation: an explanation is often at its best when it is given to a real person, in a real exchange.
The idea
There is a different energy to answering someone who actually needs help. You listen, respond, clarify and get to the point. Most of that never makes it to camera, because recording a call usually means recording the other person too — or asking everyone to join a special studio link. playbakk keeps your side of the conversation without asking you to become a performer, or the other person to become content.
How it works
On your computer, playbakk records your own camera and microphone alongside the call, at full quality. Or import a call recording you already have. playbakk then finds your speaking turns, removes the other person, reframes the moments worth keeping for vertical video and adds captions you can edit. What we believe
- The other person stays out of your clip unless they explicitly agree, through a consent link that produces a signed receipt they can withdraw.
- Everyone should know a call is being recorded. playbakk is not built for covert recording, and our acceptable use policy forbids it.
- Your recordings are yours. They stay on your device; nothing is uploaded or posted automatically.
- Security is not optional. Every account uses multi-factor authentication.
- Honesty about limits. playbakk has no built-in connection to WhatsApp, Telegram, FaceTime, Teams or other calling apps; it works alongside them on your computer. Mobile capture and signed desktop installers are not available yet.
Where we are
The web app is available now for desktop browsers, and the desktop companion is in developer preview while we test real calls across devices and apps. Follow progress in the changelog.
